Macro Life 1

Boo!

Last week I was in Long Pujungan and Long Alango waiting for some passengers.  I happened to have my camera along, AND my 100mm f2.8L IS USM Macro Lens.  So, my new-found little Indonesian buddies and I (there's always a group of kids following me around everywhere, especially when I have the camera) decided to look for some "macro life."  Those little guys were a great help, finding and pointing out all kinds of insects and flowers right there near my airplane.  We had a blast!

I'll do a couple of posts giving you a "snapshot" of just a few of the things we saw, all within a few hundred feet of the parked airplane and during a fairly short time span.  Isn't God amazing?!

Thank you for sharing these amazing photos! I've just recently stumbled across your post via your wife's blog, and I've thoroughly enjoyed reading about you and your family's life. I hope you and your wife don't stop sharing your experiences. Best wishes!

I'm flying some entomologists home today. They are here to discover unrecorded insect life. They have been out in the middle of nowhere with the white sheet lit up in the dark. Can you imagine that one of the guys is specifically looking for ants? I bet he found some.

Thanks for the nice comments guys! Steve, I'm sure they found some ants!!! We (my whole family) just got back from a weekend at WWF's Lalut Birai research station downriver from Long Alango. We sure saw plenty ants and other insects. We brought a little white towel and light, but not quite as hard core as those entomologists. It was fun!

I love the red dragonfly. The colors are amazing... God spoke it into existence for His glory...and wow, we love it! What kind of camera is it?
Do enjoy keeping up with your blogs. I so wish I was back on the field....Praying for you weekly and as the Lord brings you to mind.
